The Printers Arms pub was originally built around 1717, then called the Coach & Horses Inn when the local trade was wool. It provided a stopping place on the Oldham to Ripponden turnpike. During the 19th century calico printing took over as the main trade and the name of the inn changed to keep up with the times.
