The majority of what's left ends up in increasingly overfilled landfill sites.
Some waste plastics are incinerated to produce energy, producing poisonous gases harmful to our atmosphere.
Sadly, as well as filling up the UK landfill sites, far too many plastic products are finding their way into our oceans.
