Sussex Print Finishers
Print Finishing is the process that happens after the actual commercial printing has been completed. It incorporates a huge range of services from trimming to size through to laminating and stitching into booklets. Sussex Print Finishers can cater for a range of different quantities and services all of which are listed on this website, if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We offer all manner of print finishing, so whatever you need just give us a call and we'll be able to arrange a quote for you. The guys at SPF turned it round very quickly and delivered the order back to our factory.' Remoist gumming refers to a specific specialised version of gluing where adhesive gum is placed onto an area of a sheet of paper, it's then "activated" by moistening it, typically by licking it and that becomes sticky and can be attached to another part of the same piece of paper.

That's right, that's how licky. We're back in action! With lockdown restrictions lifted as part of "freedom day", we are finally in the full swing of things and are completely back to work.

Roy and Gary Mayhew took over Sussex Print Finishers from their father 10 years ago.
Following on from his prior 25 years of running the business, the brothers continue their father's principles of producing quality work, finished on time, to a top standard and a fair price.
I started at Sussex Print Finishers at aged 17 as a machine assistant on the factory floor.
I achieved all relevant qualifications and experience and gained confidence in the running of each machine.
As Managing Director I now have extended knowledge of all aspects of the printing industry.
We have two drills both capable of 4-hole and Filofax drilling.
The advantage of multi-head drilling is its consistency, especially when drilling 4 holes for a ring binder or 6 holes for a Filofax.
The pitch of the heads, once set, will never move so you get a very accurately produced job every time.
Our hand finishing department is capable of meeting all of your requirements, whether it be counting, padding, spine taping, eyeletting, stringing, making up of folders, tipping in, inserting into ring-binders, hand stitching books that are too thick or too large for the Muller's and shrink wrapping or poly-bagging up to a size of A3.
One area of our expertise is fold, stitch and trim.
Consequently, we need the best equipment on the market.
We currently use Muller Martini and have two different models of the machine.
We can offer 2-up work with a gutter or a dead split.
These machines also have 4 loop stitch heads.
We have invested in a Muller Bravo Plus to replace our old 890.
This very flexible machine is capable of trimming work as big as 460mm head to foot and 305mm on the foredge, but its main advantage over its rivals is it can trim as small as 105mm head to foot and 80mm on the foredge.
With our varied range of folding equipment we can produce most types of fold from a minimum sheet size of 90x90mm up to B1.
We also have inline stop perforating, inline re-moist and spot gluing.
Miniature folding down to 18mm.
Closed gate fold in first and second unit, as well as being able to produce all the standard types of fold.
We have two drills both capable of 4-hole and Filofax drilling and our hand finishing department is capable of.
Our main field of expertise is fold, stitch and trim work, so understandably we need the best equipment in the market.
We have 2 specially converted Heidelberg die cutting machines.
With these machines we can produce all of your die cutting needs, eg: folder die cutting, tab cutting, creasing, stop perforating.
In fact we can die cut to almost any shape you require.
Each of these machines can take a maximum sheet size of 770x540mm, we also have a smaller Heidelberg Platen which is excellent for kiss cutting with a maximum sheet size of SRA4.
Don't forget we also have the skilled staff to make up your folders (see general finishing).
