The creation of the embroidery design from the artwork is called Digitising or 'Punching' 'Punching' originates from the way the stitches were literally punched into paper tape, by hand, as a way of transferring the designs to the machines.
Thankfully we have come some way since then! and is the process of 'tracing' the outlines of the artwork, building up layers of stitching, to produce the embroidered logo.
As thread is quite unwieldy compared to the precision of paper-based printing, many concessions are made during the digitising process, therefore creating a faithful impression of the original artwork.

Heat seal is the process of using a heat press to apply durable vinyl, cut into the shape of the design, onto garments.
The shape of the design is cut by a plotter/cutter machine and is ideally suited to large A4 sized designs consisting of just lettering or simple shapes -complex detail cannot be reproduced effectively.
The excess vinyl is removed by hand, then each garment is then placed on the heat press, the design is also positioned by hand in the required position and pressed individually.
