Services
Wire for the production of archive ledgers, bingo tickets, book matches, cheque books, company accounts, exercise books, magazines, memo pads, menus, newspapers, periodicals, raffle tickets etc.
Whether you need a "mild steel" or "hard steel" our products are manufactured from the best available alloy steel which is heat treated through a strand annealing process to achieve consistent properties, then plated using the latest technology to achieve smooth adherent coatings.
Our normal stock in trade is a polished alloy galvanised finish which gives an effective coating with regard to appearance and corrosion resistance.

Enormous strides have been made in recent years towards increasing productivity in corrugated and solid board carton manufacture.
Fine Wire has kept abreast of developments, and offer the full range of broad flat stitching wires in reels weighing 4 kilos through to 150 kilos.
The traditional coating is zinc which is applied by electroplating and offers an element of corrosion resistance.
However to suit customers' preference copper liquor finishers are also available.
All broad flat stitching wire is precision wound onto disposable spools, to ensure trouble free dewinding into the most demanding of automatic machines.

All our spools of stitching wire are precision traversed wound to ensure tangle free dewinding.
To optimise the dewinding process the wire has to be kept under constant tension.
The dewind equipment provided by us will create this tension to suit all customers specific needs.

Occasionally problems occur but we are here to help and offer a solution to any problem.
Defects could be down to the wire manufacturers process, but also some problems can be caused by the users machine.
As wire is wound on to the spool, careful adjustment of casting pulley's ensures that a satisfactory inherent cast is put into the wire.
This sounds a fairly simple operation but in practice can be very difficult as fluctuations in tension during the winding process will cause problems in maintaining a consistent cast.

The conically wound spool of stitching wire is designed to be dewound "overhead", the cone shape winding eliminates the possibility of "dropping laps" which causes wire tangles.
The bobbin remains stationary and a "torsion" effect builds up in the wire.
The parallel wound spool of stitching wire is designed to be revolved off usually into inline stitching on Presses.
Both wires are acceptable providing that the wire is perfectly clean prior to zinc coating.
After galvanising the wire is drawn through a series of wire drawing dies which work hardens the wire and at the same time promotes a smooth, bright and adherent coating.
