Services
Empress Design & Print was born from its two parent companies, Frank E. Seary Ltd and Intaglio Classic Cards in 1996.
The owners, Paul Beck and Pauline Everitt, wanted to keep alive the wonderful traditional printing process pioneered by the two old companies and preserve the knowledge and experience dating back well over a century.
We are very proud that we have been able to not only keep these virtues, but add to them with the latest technologies.
It is our intention to continue the traditional art of engraved stationery and to keep pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved by incorporating this with modern print methods.

The process of die-stamping is used to create stationery with a raised image or text.
The paper or board is traditionally hand fed onto a die or copper-plate printing press.
Uniquely, these presses print and emboss at the same time.
During this process, a roller transfers a thick layer of ink onto the substrate which gives the luxurious look and feel that no other printing method can achieve.
The engraved process is the pinnacle of the art of printing to which the discerning client aspires.
This process can also be used without the use of ink, to create a 'blind embossing'.
