Bleed is a printers term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet BEFORE TRIMMING.
In other words, the bleed is the area we trim off before presenting you with your lovely printing!
It is impossible to print exactly to the edge of the paper so, to achieve this, it is necessary to print a slightly larger area than is needed and then trim the sheets down to the final size without leaving unprinted edges on the final job.
The 'safe zone' is a gap between the edge of the sheet and where we recommend you place any text or images you wish not to be trimmed in to.
